What institutional catering covers

Institutional catering means a contractor runs an organisation’s own canteen or cafeteria every day, rather than delivering meals for an event. Catering Corner takes on the whole operation:

  • Menu planning with a daily rotation of economic rice, nasi padang, noodles and plated specials
  • Stall and vendor management, including halal stalls certified under the MUIS Eating Establishment scheme
  • Kitchen operations, staffing, cleaning and food safety
  • Cashless payment, QR code ordering and app pre-ordering
  • Staff feedback, complaint handling and menu changes based on what sells

Our canteens also run themed weekly lunch specials on top of the daily menu:

Built for tenders and RFPs

We answer to your specification, not a standard brochure. After a site visit, you receive a full proposal within one week:

  1. Menu plan and price list for employees
  2. Staffing plan and operating hours, including shifts and supper if needed
  3. Management fee and any subsidy built into it
  4. KPIs, a service level agreement and how we report against them
  5. Compliance documents: SFA licences, MUIS halal certificates, bizSAFE Level 3 certificate, public liability insurance and WSH policy
  6. A week-by-week handover plan from your current operator

We have won canteen contracts through formal corporate RFPs, and we answer each tender to its own specification.

KPIs we commit to, and the results behind them

We agree measurable targets up front and report against them every month. At DB Schenker, a site with 1,000 employees:

At RTX’s aerospace MRO facility in Changi North (500 employees, 3 shifts, 1,000 meals a day), 98% of 400 staff surveyed in April 2026 rated the canteen better than before Catering Corner took over, and 94% want us to continue.

Switching from your current operator

Most organisations already have a canteen operator. We plan the changeover so service doesn’t stop:

  1. Site visit and proposal (week 1)
  2. Contract award, licences and halal applications (weeks 1 to 4)
  3. Menu tasting, staffing and equipment checks (weeks 4 to 7)
  4. First day of service (week 8), then a staff survey within 3 months

“We were initially concerned that moving caterers would be a huge headache with the new licences, SOPs, headcount that are all required with such a move. But working with Catering Corner on the change was a breeze – they handled all aspects of the changeover and even worked surprisingly well with our previous caterer to ensure a smooth transition.”

Mr Neela, Senior Facilities Manager, CEVA Logistics

Frequently Asked Questions

What is institutional catering?

A contractor runs an organisation’s in-house canteen or cafeteria every day: menu, stalls, staff, food safety and payment. It differs from event catering, which delivers food for a single occasion.

How is this different from your staff canteen and cafeteria services?

It is the same service, bought through a formal process. This page covers what large organisations need for a tender: KPIs, reporting, compliance documents and a handover plan.

How many sites do you run?

As of October 2026, 6 sites in Singapore serving about 5,000 meals a day. The largest has 1,300 employees, and one client has two sites with us.

How long does it take to take over from our current operator?

About 8 weeks from contract award to first service. We send a proposal within 1 week of a site visit.

Can you respond to our tender or RFP format?

Yes. We have won contracts through formal corporate RFPs, and we supply menus, staffing, pricing, KPIs and compliance documents in the format you ask for.

Do you offer a service level agreement?

Yes. We write the service level agreement around your requirements and report against it every month.

Which KPIs do you report on?

Typically waiting time, complaint resolution time, staff satisfaction, food waste and meal prices, plus monthly sales and food popularity reports. We review them with your canteen committee every month and with your management every quarter.

How much does institutional catering cost in Singapore?

Our management fee starts at S$10,800 a month for sites under 300 employees, S$12,800 for 300 to 600, and S$14,800 for 500+ or 24/7 operations, on a 24-month minimum contract.

Do you provide halal food?

Yes. We run MUIS halal-certified stalls where your workforce needs them and handle the certification for each site.
